What We Do
01.
Community Health
GPS recognizes that women’s health is severely affected by the lack of effective policies and appropriate services especially in maternal healthcare and for determinants of health. Through community mobilization, monitoring, case documentation, capacity-building, campaigns, and advocacy with service providers and the media, the maternal health and rights programme seeks to make a change in the ground realities in India.
02.
Girl Icon Programme
GPS implemented Girl Icon Fellowship Programme in 12 blocks of Azamgarh district with partnership of Milaan Foundation for building a national movement to empower girls in by collectivizing them at the grassroots, engaging and building capacities of community-based organizations, instigating collective social action in communities and collaborative advocacy campaign to amplify voices of change. We believe in the power of girl to be agents of change.
03.
Advocacy for Public Sector Services
Access to safe abortion services is an important matter of reproductive rights of women for leading a healthy life. In almost all the districts of Uttar Pradesh, there is lack of awareness and knowledge among communities regarding access to safe abortion services. Often it is seen that women suffer from unwanted or unplanned pregnancy due to multiple reasons and they need access to safe abortion services.
04.
Quality Education
BSHA is a state level network working on enhancing the quality of education being imparted in government schools by strengthening the school governance system and promoting effective partnership for betterment of school environment.
GPS organized this campaign in five primary schools of Atraulia block in Azamgarh district with the support of Behtar Shiksha Haq Abhiyan (BSHA) in collaboration with SMCs and education department which runs the “School Chalo Abhiyan “or Go to School Campaign” before the commencement of the academic session.
